S.E.A. s.r.l. is able to provide sludge treatment service with its own equipment with varying capacities such as sludge neutralisation and dehydration with centrifuges and filter presses, both fixed and mobile. S.E.A. s.r.l. has at its disposal test equipment used to carry out water treatment and sludge dehydration tests directly at the client’s premises, in order to prepare the necessary mechanical and chemical adjustments on site.

The Water Treatment division is able to examine the characteristics of the sludge with its laboratories and select the most effective chemicals to use.

Sludge centrifugation

Many of the issues involved in the dehydration of civil and industrial sludge can be resolved with S.E.A. s.r.l.’s equipment fleet and the high level of specialisation of its technical personnel. The operating flexibility of the decanter centrifuges, designed in partnership with S.E.A. s.r.l., along with the ten year experience in the treatment of waste containing suspended solids, ensures efficient and economical applications, along with environmentally friendly performance levels.

The selection and use of the correct chemical products guarantees the maximum technical and environmental performance and economic savings. S.E.A. s.r.l. has, over the last ten years, developed an ATEX (zone 0) compliant centrifuge, fitted with explosion proof motors, and a continuous control system of the air quality inside the machine. An oxygen measuring device, whose operating limits are set by the operator, controls the operation of a neutralisation system with N2, that guarantees the compliance of the O2 limits inside the screw feeder/drum system and ensures a non-explosive internal atmosphere in all stages of operation. The system is fitted with an automatic blockage system in case of a failure in the internal neutralisation system.

Sludge filter pressing

The filter press is a device used to dehydrate the sludge and reduce the volume of liquid substances containing suspended solids. It consists of a series of plates, alternated with filter cloths, that, adhering with each other, form chambers where the dehydrated sludge is collected.
The sludge is pumped into the machine at high pressures. The solid part is kept inside the chambers and the liquid part, with a low content of suspended solids, is collected out of the filter press.

Subsequently the chambers are opened to remove the solid part.
S.E.A. s.r.l., in order to meet our clients’ requirements, has at its disposal a pilot filter press used to carry out dehydration tests with cloths with different weaves. Once the optimal cloth has been identified S.E.A. s.r.l. performs the treatment with a mobile filter press. There are many advantages to filter pressing sludge: first of all there is a saving in the disposal costs, as the dried filtered sludge has lower transport and disposal costs compared to liquid sludge; moreover the water can be reused for the production processes.

S.E.A. s.r.l.’s mobile system consists of the following:
